Every target in Ergomatic is set from your baseline: the average split per 500 m you can hold for a distance. Until you set one, workouts show a word (steady, moderate, hard, all out) where a split would be.
Three ways to set it
From Today:
- Answer two questions and take a recommended starting pair.
- Enter your splits, if you know them.
- Row a test and let the measurement set it.
Rowing a test
- 6k: warm up for ten minutes, then row strong and steady at as even a pace as you can. A 6k that starts too hot undersells you.
- 2k: all out.
Save the session and the app offers your average split as the baseline. Accept it and it is set. The app can then estimate the other distance (a 2k runs about seven seconds per 500 m faster than a 6k), or you can leave it unset until you row it.
If you decline, the test is still recorded. You can type either baseline at any time under BASELINES on the You tab.
Re-testing
Your first baseline will be a little off. When workouts have drifted easier than their forecasts for a few weeks, re-test from BASELINES on the You tab, where both tests sit beside your numbers.
