DOCSRelease notes.
Every release since v0.4.0, newest first.
v0.84.1 · 5 NOV 2026
- Email sign-in no longer tries an old sign-in service if the server doesn't provide its current settings.
- After deleting an Apple-linked account, the confirmation now says you can remove Ergomatic from your Apple ID settings if it is still listed.
v0.84.0 · 3 NOV 2026
- Email sign-in now asks Ergomatic's server which sign-in service to use each time you request a code, so future server moves won't need an app update.
v0.83.0 · 1 NOV 2026
- On You, the NEWS row is now DOCS and opens ergomatic.io/docs, where the guides and release notes live. WHICH ERGS WORK opens the monitor guide there too.
- On the live monitor screen, the caption under the interval rows no longer counts rows MORE BELOW. It counted the rows after the active one, not the rows off screen, and the header's 2 OF 8 already tells you where you are.
- On PLAN, Pause plan · Restart plan sits centred under the session list.
v0.82.0 · 28 OCT 2026
- When you rate ACTUAL EFFORT, the workout's expected level is shaded in its type colour with EXPECTED under it, so you can see how your effort compared to what you expected.
- A saved log now shows both ratings together, for example ACTUAL EFFORT 3/5 · EXPECTED 4/5.
v0.81.1 · 28 OCT 2026
- On the smallest phones, AVG SPLIT gets its own line on WORKOUT COMPLETE and saved logs, so the split and an hour-long TIME read in full.
- Editing a saved log, Cancel no longer touches the INTERVALS heading below it.
v0.81.0 · 28 OCT 2026
- A saved log's Concept2 card is shorter: View on Concept2 and the result number now share one row. Buttons at the bottom of a log and other full screens sit clear of the tabs.
- Tapping Delete session or Delete workout keeps Cancel and Delete in view, with no warning text to scroll past.
- WORKOUT COMPLETE now shows the workout's type and EXPECTED effort above the title, like a saved log. EXPECTED appears once, at the top.
- After a monitor session, each interval row on WORKOUT COMPLETE shows the meters you rowed above its time, like a saved log.
- The EXPECTED effort saved with a log is the one WORKOUT COMPLETE showed you, even if the workout is re-rated before you tap Save.
- On narrow phones the MACHINE SUMMARY fits without sliding sideways, the effort buttons are easier to tap, and interval rows no longer run off the edge.
- Sessions now has month headers, with the day and weekday beside every row. Jump to month takes you straight to any month you've rowed.
- After a jump, scroll up to load newer sessions, or tap ↑ TOP to go back to your newest.
v0.80.1 · 26 OCT 2026
- Sliding a log's MACHINE SUMMARY table sideways no longer shows its numbers through the margin to the left of the # column.
v0.80.0 · 26 OCT 2026
- The builder's select-all box now says SELECT ALL, and once you tick steps the header counts them, like 3 SELECTED. Ticked steps and the action bar share the same shaded fill, so it is clear the bar acts on them.
- That bar now stays on screen above the tabs while any step is ticked. Its cells read MOVE UP, MOVE DOWN, DUPLICATE and REMOVE, and a cell that can't act right now looks greyed out and doesn't flash when tapped.
- DUPLICATE puts the copies at the end of the list and keeps your ticks on the originals, so pressing it again makes another set. The list scrolls to the copies and they glow for a moment so you can see which rows are new.
- With two or more steps ticked, the drag grips go away and the bar is how you move them. A single ticked step still drags.
- Removing steps fades them out instead of snapping, and Save ignores taps for half a second afterwards so the finger that pressed YES can't save by accident. Tap an open step's header to close it.
- A saved log now says what the workout was: its type and the effort it expected sit above the title, and VIEW WORKOUT opens the workout it came from.
- Your own rating reads ACTUAL beside the workout's EXPECTED effort, on the log, Today and Sessions. A Just Row keeps EFFORT.
- The rating's caption uses the builder's words, EASY BREATH to BRUTAL, instead of 'harder than planned'. Older ratings keep their number, so a 3 that once read 'harder than planned' now reads WORKING.
- The expected effort is frozen when you save, so editing the workout later doesn't change old logs. Logs saved before this update show the workout's rating as of this update.
- The ABOUT row on You shows the app's version, so you can check it without opening About.
v0.79.0 · 25 OCT 2026
- Select steps in the builder with the box beside each one, then move, duplicate or remove them together from one bar. Tap a step to edit it. Each step takes half the room it used to.
- CLEAR now sits under Save to library, away from the top of the builder.
- If sign-in, linking a method or deleting your account gets no answer from the server, the app now stops waiting after about 15 seconds and says it couldn't reach Ergomatic, instead of sitting on a dead screen.
v0.78.0 · 25 OCT 2026
- Reorder steps in the builder by dragging a step card, or tap its up and down arrows. The other steps slide out of the way as you go.
- The repeat row is gone from the builder. A workout with a repeat opens with its steps written out in full, and folds back into the repeat when you save, so nothing you already have changes.
- When the server refuses your sign-in, your phone now forgets that sign-in and ends it, so your next sign-in starts clean. A sign-in that lands at the same moment is kept.
- AUTO NAME now picks a different random name on every press, instead of starting from the same name each time.
v0.77.0 · 25 OCT 2026
- Move where a repeat starts with one tap. Up and down arrows sit beside the grip on the repeat row, so dragging is optional.
- CLEAR is now a quiet control beside BACK at the top of the builder, and the repeat row has shorter dividers between its controls.
- Completed plans is now a small COMPLETED link beside the Plan title, so today's session sits higher. The browse list no longer repeats the Switching pauses line.
- Start new is now Restart plan. On a plan's page, Review & continue is the main button when you have a run of that plan going.
- A plan's page and a run's record now open at the top.
- End a paused plan from its record. The confirm shows its exact counts, and the plan then appears in Completed plans as ended early.
- The app now needs iOS 15.4 or newer.
v0.76.0 · 24 OCT 2026
- Pause plan and Start new now sit as a quiet line at the end of your plan, so the title, progress tiles and today's session come first.
- With no plan running, the Plan tab shows your plans straight away: a paused plan on top, then the plans you can start, with your completed plans last.
- Switch to a paused plan in one tap from Browse plans. The plan you leave keeps its progress.
- Starting a different plan while one is running now says Switch to this plan, so the button tells you what happens.
v0.75.0 · 23 OCT 2026
- Explore every session in a plan before starting it. Tap a prescribed workout to open the same detail card you use in the Library.
- Pause a plan or switch to another without losing your progress. Your paused plans stay available to pick up where you left off.
- Returning to the same kind of plan? Continue your saved run or start fresh. Starting fresh completes the old run and marks its unfinished sessions as skipped.
- See how many plans you have completed before opening your history. Inside, find plan totals, runs finished in full or ended early, and year markers as you browse older runs.
- Saved interval rows now show both recorded meters and elapsed time when both are available.
v0.74.0 · 22 OCT 2026
- Tap the progress tiles on an active plan to see more. Done shows your progress through each planned workout type, plus how many sessions you rowed as planned or swapped.
- Pace shows your sessions across the last eight weeks. Finish explains your current estimate and compares finishing at two, three or four sessions a week.
- Checkpoints lists your plan's tests, how far away they are and the results or replacement workouts recorded so far. Tap a linked session to open its log.
- Missing details stay honest: Unknown in Done means the session's planned-or-swapped status is unavailable; done at a checkpoint means no result or replacement workout can be shown. A dash means there is no figure to show, not zero.
v0.73.2 · 22 OCT 2026
- Choosing FREE keeps the pace choices you were using: 2K and 6K, or the effort words. They stay in place when you close and reopen the step.
- CLEAR stays visible with a dashed border while the workout is unchanged, then becomes available after an edit. Clearing a new workout opens its blank first interval, ready to fill in.
- New steps start with a blank duration, including when you add a step after deleting every existing step.
v0.73.1 · 22 OCT 2026
- FREE is visible beside STEADY, MODERATE, HARD and ALL OUT, with a clear selected state. MORE PACES sits above the choices; choosing a pace closes its sheet straight away.
- START OVER appears as soon as you change a workout, so you can reset the draft without trying to leave first.
v0.73.0 · 22 OCT 2026
- The builder has one repeat row with a count and a draggable grip. Put steps before it to run them once; the block below repeats. The row follows your drag and shows where it will land. Import help explains the workout syntax and how to flatten nested repeats.
- Choose STEADY, MODERATE, HARD or ALL OUT for each step, or FREE for no pace target. Open the Pace sheet with the arrow beside PACE. Totals distinguish steps with an estimated time from those without one; a word target is never sent to the monitor or judged as a pace verdict.
- Signing out or changing accounts clears the builder draft so the next account does not inherit it.
- Plan opens at today, with earlier finished sessions folded away but still one tap from their logs. Browse plans without stopping the one you are running.
- Plan's four tiles show how much is done, sessions per week, estimated finish and the next test or sessions left. A finished plan shows its session count, weeks, average sessions per week and last test or finish date. A dash means the available sessions cannot support that figure.
- Older versions must update to keep using the app, so word targets and FREE steps are read consistently on every device.
v0.72.2 · 20 OCT 2026
- On a connected row the app now asks the monitor for its numbers four times a second instead of ten. That leaves a busy Bluetooth link more room, and the live screen keeps step with the monitor.
- During a rest the live screen's bottom-right cell shows EST TOTAL LEFT, the same estimate the grid's header carries, instead of sitting empty.
v0.72.1 · 19 OCT 2026
- Plan usually shows your finished days as links the first time you open it, instead of filling the links in a moment later.
- Deleting a workout updates Plan straight away: a checkpoint day that named it no longer shows the old mark.
- On Android the crash screen says Android, and a crash report now includes your phone's OS version.
- Connection logs now record the monitor's firmware version.
v0.72.0 · 19 OCT 2026
- A step's stroke rate can be a range now, 22-24 for example. Set it in the builder with the RANGE box beside SPM, or in bulk import as @22-24. The range shows everywhere the rate shows, and on a connected row the live rate colours against both ends. A range sends no target rate to Concept2.
- This version is the floor: older versions stop at an update screen and must update to keep using the app.
- Tabs no longer flash LOADING when you return to them. After the first visit, Library, Plan, Stats, You and Today draw at once from what the app already holds, and a saved, edited or deleted session shows everywhere straight away.
- Stats ends with ALL SESSIONS over the last three sessions, like Today, and an empty chart group keeps its card.
v0.71.0 · 17 OCT 2026
- The live screen now runs the interval: the number beside the progress bar is this interval's meters (INT), and the cell below the splits is this interval's time or meters left, from the monitor's own per-interval readings.
- On programmed workouts, whole-session meters have left the live screen; a free row still shows them. The session's estimated time left is on the GRID screen's header, marked EST.
v0.70.0 · 17 OCT 2026
- Ergomatic now asks whether to send heart rate to Concept2 when you open Concept2 or Today, if you have not answered yet.
v0.69.0 · 11 OCT 2026
- Stats is now a tab, between Plan and You. Your totals, charts and 2K and 6K test trend moved there from You, and SESSIONS at the bottom opens your full list of sessions.
- Today’s ALL SESSIONS opens that same list. A session you open from Stats keeps the Stats tab lit; one you open from Today or Plan keeps Today lit, as before.
- News moved to ergomatic.io/news, where the guides and every release note now live. Open it from You › News; on the screen that says an erg isn’t supported, WHICH ERGS WORK opens the same site.
v0.68.0 · 11 OCT 2026
- Ergomatic now asks before it saves heart rate. If Concept2 gets your workouts automatically, they now go without heart rate until you turn on Send heart rate in You › Concept2.
- If your saved workouts already include heart rate, Today asks you once whether to keep saving it; you can change your answer in You › Settings.
- Saying no also deletes the monitor logs on this phone that held heart rate; workouts you already saved keep theirs, and heart rate still shows while you row.
v0.67.0 · 11 OCT 2026
- Paid access is now live on the server. Every account that existed before this release is comped: You's SUBSCRIPTION row reads FULL ACCESS and the whole library stays open to you, with nothing to do. A brand-new account sees the free library and the subscribe page. If you ever reach that page, TestFlight purchases are never charged, and on Android you are a license tester.
- The Concept2 row on You no longer flickers while it checks your link; it remembers the last status between visits and refreshes quietly.
- The Privacy Policy was rewritten. You can read it from You, or at ergomatic.io/privacy; it now describes the emails Ergomatic may send and what deleting your account removes.
v0.66.0 · 8 OCT 2026
- If Ergomatic cannot check your account at launch, it now offers Try again instead of sending you to sign-in. Reconnect and retry to open the app.
- A connection problem during an open session keeps you signed in. If the library cannot refresh, Retry remains available.
- You can now open the Privacy Policy from You. Privacy and Terms are also available on ergomatic.io.
- Deleting your account now also starts removal of your purchase record from RevenueCat. Cancel any store subscription separately to stop billing. Paid access remains off; every workout is still available.
v0.65.1 · 6 OCT 2026
- Charts on saved workouts now break at each rest instead of drawing a straight line across it, so every rest looks the same, the last one included. Heart rate still shows what the monitor read during a rest you paddled. A single reading on its own now shows as a dot.
v0.65.0 · 6 OCT 2026
- Ergomatic now checks at launch that your version is still supported. Nothing is blocked today. If a version ever is, you'll see one Update Ergomatic page with a button to update, and a row you're in the middle of is kept on your phone and saves after you update.
v0.64.1 · 5 OCT 2026
- The chart on a saved interval workout now places each rest where the monitor recorded it, so rests are no longer drawn twice late in a long workout. Workouts saved before version 0.64.0 look the same as before.
- Android: reopening Ergomatic from its icon while the Concept2 sign-in page is open now keeps that page open instead of closing it.
v0.64.0 · 5 OCT 2026
- Interval workouts now save the monitor's interval number every second so a coming chart fix can place rest periods correctly. Nothing changes on screen today.
- The You tab has a new “SUBSCRIPTION · FULL ACCESS” row. Every workout is still available, and rowing and logging work the same.
v0.63.1 · 4 OCT 2026
- When you set up a long interval workout, an occasional delay no longer makes Ergomatic show Try again even though the monitor has taken it. We saw this with ten intervals.
- The chart on a saved interval workout no longer draws some rests twice late in a long workout, then leaves a blank stretch. Your saved times and distances were always right. Only the chart was wrong.
v0.63.0 · 4 OCT 2026
- Couch to 6k is a new plan for beginners: 30 sessions, about three a week, finishing with the 6K Test.
- Plans now finish. After your last session, the Plan tab and Today say PLAN COMPLETE, and workouts you log after that no longer count toward the plan. A plan’s page now shows its first sessions and how many sessions it has.
- On a Couch to 6k day, swapping the session on Today shows SESSION SWAPPED. When you row a plan’s test with no 2K or 6K result on file, Log against plan is now the first button when you save it.
- Deleting a logged plan session no longer moves its checkmark onto a workout from an earlier run of the same plan.
- On Android, Scan NFC now connects to the monitor, as it does on iPhone. On both phones, Ergomatic asks for Bluetooth when you tap Scan NFC, before it reads the tag.
- With Bluetooth off, Scan NFC and Connect now ask you to turn it on. On iPhone you get the Turn On Bluetooth alert every time. On Android, tap Allow and Ergomatic carries straight on.
- Try again after a failed connect now repeats what you tapped: after Scan NFC it scans the tag again, and after Connect it goes back to the monitor list.
- If you finish a plan on an older version of Ergomatic, it can read SESSION 31 OF 30. Your progress is counted correctly. Update to see PLAN COMPLETE.
v0.62.0 · 1 OCT 2026
- Plans now have their own page. Tap a plan to see what it involves (the mix of sessions, the test days and the first week) before you start it.
- You can stop a plan. Stop replaces Switch on the Plan tab. To change plans, stop yours and pick another. Stopping resets your progress, and your logged workouts are kept.
- On Android, Ergomatic now has the same rowing-rabbit icon as on iPhone.
v0.61.0 · 29 SEPT 2026
- Ergomatic is on Android. Testers can now install it from Google Play.
v0.60.0 · 29 SEPT 2026
- Sign out is now instant, even on a bad connection. Before, the button could sit waiting on the network before your phone signed you out. Now your phone signs you out the moment you tap it, and tells our server in the background.
v0.59.0 · 28 SEPT 2026
- One email, one account. If you sign in a new way with an email address that already has an Ergomatic account, you’ll be asked to sign in to that account and add the new way, instead of getting a second, empty account.
v0.58.0 · 27 SEPT 2026
- You has a new About page, behind the ABOUT row near the bottom. It shows the version and build you are running, so you can tell us exactly which one you are on when something goes wrong. It also thanks The Erg Book, the book Ergomatic is built around.
v0.57.0 · 27 SEPT 2026
- The workout types have clearer names: O2 is now Endurance (EN), TR is Hard intervals (HI), and AN is Speed (SP). Your workouts, pace targets and history stay the same. AT keeps its name; its selector description now says Aerobic threshold.
- Time by type now calls its No Type group Other. It holds the same rows and totals as before.
- Update Ergomatic on every device before rowing again. Older builds cannot use the new workout types. Saved drafts and type filters move to the new names when you open this version.
- Sign-in emails now have the subject Your Ergomatic login code and show your code in Ergomatic’s own design. Enter the code in the app as before.
v0.56.1 · 26 SEPT 2026
- Signing out on your phone now also ends that sign-in on our server. Before, it stayed there for up to 60 days after you signed out. This works the same whether you sign in with Apple, Google or email. Nothing looks different when you tap Sign out.
- Add Email, under ACCOUNT on the You tab, now starts with your account’s own address already filled in. You can still change it before continuing.
v0.56.0 · 26 SEPT 2026
- You can now sign in with a code sent to your email. The welcome screen has an EMAIL ADDRESS field above Apple and Google: type the address you row here with, or were invited with, tap Continue with email, and enter the eight-digit code we send. If it does not arrive, Didn’t get a code? sends another without starting over, and the newest code is the one to enter. If you already sign in with Apple or Google, keep using that button: typing your address here makes a new, empty account. The Google button now sits below the address field and Apple, and looks like Google’s own: white, with Google’s G, instead of our red.
- Email is now a third sign-in method under ACCOUNT on the You tab, beside Apple and Google, and Add Email confirms the address with a code. When you add a method while you already have two, Ergomatic asks which of them to confirm it’s you with, and Email can be that one.
- Ending before your first stroke now takes you back to the workout, not to an empty log. End, still two taps, stops the program on the monitor and leaves you on the workout page with your nudged targets kept and Connect ready, the same as Cancel on the ready screen. In Just Row it goes back to the Just Row start screen. Once you have pulled a stroke, End goes to the log as before. Also fixed: tapping Show me the numbers in Just Row no longer skips the ready screen on your next Connect when READY SCREEN is set to SHOW.
- Deleting your account now also clears what Ergomatic kept on this phone and forgets your Google sign-in. A workout you haven’t saved yet stays until you save or discard it.
- Scan NFC on iPhone now reads the monitor’s tag with Ergomatic’s own reader. Scanning, Cancel and scanning again work as before. One difference: if the phone meets a tag it cannot read, the scan may keep waiting until you tap Cancel or it runs out of time, rather than telling you straight away.
- Scan NFC now works in Chrome on Android too. Tap Scan NFC, hold your phone to the monitor, and Chrome’s Bluetooth picker opens showing only the monitor you touched. The first time, Chrome asks for NFC permission; after that, tap Try again to choose the monitor. ErgData does not take the tag while Ergomatic is reading it. The iPhone app sees none of this.
v0.55.0 · 24 SEPT 2026
- Creating a new account now asks for your name. The Create your account screen has a NAME field, filled in with the name Google or Apple sent, or empty if they sent none, and Create account will not go ahead until it holds one: it says “Enter a name to create your account.” instead. You can change the name later on the You tab. Accounts that already exist are unchanged.
- Today's TIME filter now starts at any length. It used to start at an hour or less for everyone, taken from a time limit no screen let you change, so longer workouts were left out of Today's suggestion until you widened it. CLEAR ALL now resets TIME to any length too. If you had changed any filter on a workout type before this update, that type had saved the old hour limit too; this update resets it to any length. If you had chosen an hour on purpose, set it again.
v0.54.0 · 23 SEPT 2026
- Your Today filters now follow you between devices. Set EFFORT or TIME on your phone and your laptop shows it the next time Today opens, still one saved set per workout type. A change made without a connection stays on the device and goes up when Today next opens or the app comes back to the front. The first time each device syncs, it uploads the filters it already had, and if two of your devices both had filters saved for the same workout type, the one that opens Today first keeps its version. The web updates before the iPhone app, so that is usually your browser: if your phone's filters changed, set them again once and every device follows.
- Connect works again in Chrome on Android. Going fullscreen the moment you tapped Connect used up the tap the Bluetooth picker needed, so the first Connect always failed. Fullscreen is now a button you press: top right on Ready when you pull, and beside END while you row. It is only in the browser, and only where the browser supports fullscreen. The iPhone app is unchanged.
- If the sign-in options fail to load, the welcome screen now says “Sign-in isn’t available right now.” with a Try again button, instead of leaving you with nothing to press.
v0.53.0 · 22 SEPT 2026
- Ergomatic now checks what the monitor says it received. Setting up a planned workout sends the monitor several batches of settings, and it answers each one by repeating back the commands it understood. We never compared that list against what we sent. If they disagree, setup now stops with "The monitor acknowledged the wrong commands on frame 2" and offers Try again and the phone timer, instead of rowing a piece the monitor may not be holding. A healthy start is unchanged, and this covers the planned-workout setup only: Just Row notes a disagreement and carries on.
- Setting up a workout no longer waits without end for an answer that is not coming. If the monitor keeps reporting but never answers one batch of settings, Ergomatic now gives up after about ten seconds and says "The monitor never answered frame 7." It used to read "never acked (ack-timeout policy)", which was our jargon pointed at you. If the monitor falls completely silent instead, the screen still waits, and Cancel is the way out.
- Rowing with a real monitor works in Chrome on Android now. The link came up and then the very first command failed, every time, leaving the phone timer as the only option. The fault was ours, not Android's: we sent two Bluetooth requests at once, which Android refuses and a desktop browser quietly allows. Requests now take their turn, and each one waits for the erg to confirm it arrived. The iPhone app was already doing both and is unchanged.
- The connected screen now fits a short landscape frame in a phone browser, and then takes the frame back. With Chrome's address bar stuck on screen the big numbers ran out of room, and the horizontal rule cut straight through your pace and rate. The whole landscape type scale now shrinks with the frame instead of overflowing it, and tapping Connect puts the browser into fullscreen for the session and releases it when you leave. Your phone's own status bar goes with it while you row. Nothing changes in the iPhone app, on a desktop, or in a browser that refuses fullscreen: those frames render exactly as before.
v0.52.1 · 21 SEPT 2026
- Ergomatic opens again on iPhones updated to iOS 27. On iOS 27 the app shut itself down the instant you tapped it — no splash, no white screen, just back to the home screen. iOS 27 requires apps to start up in a way Ergomatic had not moved to yet, and it stops any app that has not. Nothing inside the app changed and nothing you had saved was affected. If your phone is on an older iOS you were never affected and will not notice a difference.
v0.52.0 · 20 SEPT 2026
- If a screen breaks, you now get a plain screen that says so, not a blank white one. It shows the error, a COPY button, and a Reload Ergomatic button that takes you back to Today. The tabs along the bottom still work.
- When that happens Ergomatic now sends a crash report to its own server by itself, so nobody has to notice and report it. The report is the error message, where in the code it happened, the screen you were on, the app version, and whether you were on iOS or the web. It is logged against your account, so it is clear whose phone it was. Nothing goes to anyone else. Some errors that never show on screen are reported the same way. It does not cover iOS closing the app outright.
- The Diagnostics screen, on the You tab, has a new Send a test crash card. It breaks that one screen on purpose, so the report can be checked end to end. Reload puts everything back.
v0.51.2 · 19 SEPT 2026
- One more fix to the chart on a saved monitor workout. If you stopped paddling a few seconds before a rest ended, the line climbing into the next interval went missing, so that interval looked cut off from the rest before it. The line now joins up. It still breaks across a rest you sat still through from start to finish, because there is nothing to draw there.
v0.51.1 · 19 SEPT 2026
- The chart on a saved monitor workout could draw a rest twice: an empty rest band, then a stretch of blank chart after it, so a 30 minute piece ran to 35. It happened when the monitor marked a rest a moment late, and it could hit some rests in a workout and not others. Each rest now draws once, with your paddling inside its band.
- Rest bands on that chart are now exactly as wide as the rest the monitor timed. Before, a rest you paddled all the way through could draw a second or two wider than the one next to it.
v0.51.0 · 19 SEPT 2026
- Your sign-in methods and Delete account now live behind one ACCOUNT row at the top of You, and the same screen has a NAME field. Change your name there and it changes everywhere at once. Signing in no longer changes it back.
- Coming back from Apple or Google now always tells you what happened. If adding a sign-in method fails, you land on ACCOUNT with the reason, including what to do when the account already has a different sign-in of that kind.
- I know my baseline now shows the time it is about to save, right above Save. Type 1 and it reads 2k Not set → 1:00.0, so a short entry can no longer be saved unseen.
- The chart on a saved monitor workout now runs on time at the erg: your work plus the rest the monitor itself timed. Equal rests draw at equal widths, a rest you sat still through no longer disappears, and standing still mid-piece is marked STOPPED with its length. Before, a rest was only as wide as you kept the flywheel moving.
- A saved monitor workout with rest now shows REST and OVERALL under its three big numbers, the same names Concept2's logbook uses. OVERALL is the total you watched climb at the erg. DISTANCE stays your work metres, as it always was. A workout you stopped early shows no such line, before or after you save it, because a stopped piece can be missing its last rest reading, so Ergomatic does not add one up.
- Behind the scenes: a once-a-minute server cleanup could briefly refuse new sign-ins or fail an account deletion, and an abandoned Apple sign-in left a token with us that Apple was never told to revoke. Both are fixed.
v0.50.6 · 17 SEPT 2026
- Monitor-tag connections now keep one attempt in charge from scan through Cancel. Ergomatic waits for the old Bluetooth attempt to finish before allowing another, so late cleanup cannot interrupt the next try.
v0.50.5 · 17 SEPT 2026
- This build reorganizes the monitor-tag connection path behind the scenes. Its search, cancellation, return-to-app retry, messages, and timing are unchanged.
v0.50.4 · 17 SEPT 2026
- Scanning the monitor tag now tells you when to move your phone away. If leaving Ergomatic interrupts the Bluetooth search, returning to the app retries that search once.
- The connection log now distinguishes a background interruption from Cancel, a timeout or cleanup trouble, and records when the search resumes.
v0.50.3 · 16 SEPT 2026
- Where these numbers come from now explains each calculation more directly. Heart rate describes your recorded readings during work, and pieces that ended early explain how their stroke rate is calculated. Missing values simply say they are not available for the piece.
v0.50.2 · 16 SEPT 2026
- Saved workouts now stay put while Where these numbers come from is open. The v0.50.1 fix missed this screen, so the log could still move behind the sheet.
v0.50.1 · 16 SEPT 2026
- The screen behind a sheet stays put. Opening any sheet — a filter, the connection log, or Where these numbers come from — used to leave the page underneath free to scroll, so the log you were reading slid around behind the panel.
- Sheets now sit centred rather than hanging off the bottom of the screen, where they left a wide empty gap above and cut through the page content along their top edge.
v0.50.0 · 15 SEPT 2026
- Signing in with Apple when your account is a Google one now takes one trip instead of six steps. Tell it you already have an account, sign in the way you usually do, and a screen names both identities and the account they join before anything is attached. Nothing is attached until you say so, and Not now leaves you signed in with nothing changed.
- The post-workout table stops crediting the monitor for sums we work out ourselves. Its columns are now grouped under DERIVED and MEASURED, and the heading above them says only what is true of what is underneath.
- A new row under the tiles, Where these numbers come from, opens a sheet naming the source of each tile FOR THAT ROW. RATE is the monitor's average on a finished piece and ours on one you cut short; AVG HR is the monitor's if it sent one and your belt's trace otherwise.
- The diagnostics header now keeps the erg model it read. It was being overwritten with nothing by the parts of the monitor's status feed that never carry one.
v0.49.0 · 14 SEPT 2026
- Chart numbers stop losing their first digit. Once a season passed 100,000 m the labels down the side of the Stats charts were cut off at the card edge. They now read 150k, and every chart works out how much room its own widest label needs instead of guessing.
- Picking a custom date range on Stats no longer repeats those dates back at you underneath the two pickers. It still speaks up when a range holds nothing, so an empty stretch still reads NO ROWS.
- If a sign-in belongs to another Ergomatic account, the recovery on You is now four numbered steps instead of a paragraph, and each one names a button you can actually find.
v0.48.0 · 14 SEPT 2026
- You can delete your Ergomatic account from inside the app. It is on You, under ACCOUNT. You prove it is you first, then a screen lists what goes before anything is deleted.
- You can remove a sign-in method you no longer want, from the same screen. Your last one has no Remove button, so you cannot lock yourself out of your own account.
- If a sign-in belongs to another Ergomatic account, the screen now tells you how to recover instead of leaving you stuck: sign in to that account, delete it, then add the sign-in here.
v0.47.0 · 14 SEPT 2026
- You can sign in with Apple now, alongside Google. New accounts can be created either way, and if you already have an account you can link the second provider to it rather than ending up with two.
- The sign-in screen no longer carries anyone else's name, and its button no longer sticks after you back out of a sign-in and return. If your email is not on the invite list, the screen now says so plainly instead of failing quietly.
- The Stats page gained the rest of its charts, as v0.46.0 promised: metres per week, the season curve with your average per day and your streak, and the test trend for your 2k and 6k.
v0.46.0 · 12 SEPT 2026
- A free row you reopen from History shows the same RATE it showed you live. The stored row carried no note of being a free row, so the reopened screen guessed wrong and showed a dash where the monitor's own average belonged.
- The app no longer tells you programming failed for a workout the erg has already taken. A hiccup on the phone side after the erg confirmed the workout used to be reported as the erg refusing it.
- The News tab opens and stays put. It used to paint, then shift every row sideways and drop the list while the unread marks arrived. The marks now have their space from the first paint, and after the first open of a session they appear at once.
- You now shows your career stats: lifetime and this season's metres over a bar of your work time by type. Tap it for the Stats page: pick a range (all time, this season, year, month, 30 days or your own dates) and see metres, time and sessions for every row and for the rows the monitor recorded, with rest metres, calories and average watts under the monitor column. Metres per week, the season curve, streaks and the test trend come next.
v0.45.0 · 9 SEPT 2026
- The app calls it the monitor now, not the PM5. The name only appears where it tells you WHICH monitor, like when two of them answer to the same one.
- When the app refuses a machine it cannot record, it stops offering that machine as the quick way back. Before, the erg it had just turned down was still sitting there as your last used one.
- The failure screens no longer say the same sentence twice. The detail panel underneath was repeating the line already at the top of the screen, which pushed the useful part off the bottom in landscape.
- The screen that refuses a machine no longer offers to row on the phone timer instead. After a SkiErg is turned down, that button led to saving the ski piece as a row, which is the thing the refusal exists to prevent. Every other failure screen still offers it, because when Bluetooth is off the phone timer is exactly the right answer.
- You now choose whether the ready screen appears. In You, open SETTINGS: READY SCREEN set to SKIP takes you straight to the numbers when you connect, instead of stopping at "Ready when you pull" for a tap. SHOW is the default, so nothing changes unless you change it. Skipping also means you stop seeing the KEEP YOUR PHONE SCREEN ON reminder, and the ready screen's Cancel becomes the numbers screen's End.
- In Just Row, if the monitor goes quiet before your first pull, the screen now says it is waiting instead of offering a Try again. That button could not actually reconnect in that situation, and this state usually clears on its own. A monitor that genuinely disconnects still says LOST THE MONITOR and still offers Try again, because there it works.
v0.44.0 · 9 SEPT 2026
- You choose what the colours mean now. In You, open SETTINGS: pace and stroke rate each get a faster and a slower colour, and each one can be red, blue, or off entirely. Nothing changes until you change it, so if you liked it as it was, it still is.
- The line under your interval list that read FASTER (BLUE) SLOWER (RED) is gone. It could no longer be true for everyone once the colours became yours to set, and a key that lies is worse than no key.
- On a failure screen in landscape, the headline and the reason now fit. The buttons underneath had been taking most of the screen, leaving the part that says what went wrong with nowhere to sit.
v0.43.0 · 8 SEPT 2026
- Ergomatic can verify your Concept2 rows for you, if you switch it on. Auto verification sits on the Concept2 screen and starts off, because saying a row is verified is your claim about your own rowing, not ours to make for you.
- A row you verified yourself on Concept2 now reads as verified here too, instead of looking like it never went through.
- If a send fails over its verification code, the retry now goes without the code rather than failing the same way twice. The row still lands; you can type the code in on Concept2 yourself.
- When Ergomatic cannot read your monitor at all, the screen now says NO READINGS. It used to say READY and promise a piece it had no way to start.
- Sign out now ends your Google session on the device, and works with no network. If it does fail, the screen says so instead of looking like it worked.
- Signing in on the web asks Google which account you want. It used to reuse the last one silently, which was wrong on a shared computer. The iPhone app already did this.
- A free row's summary now shows the machine's own tiles, the same ones a programmed piece gets.
- If your monitor is on a SkiErg, BikeErg or Dyno, Ergomatic now says so and stops, instead of quietly filing your piece as a rowing row and sending it to Concept2 as one. Connect the monitor, in News, has a new Which ergs work section listing what is supported and what is not.
- On a failure screen in landscape, the reason is back on screen. The headline and the explanation had been sitting above the top of the scroll area, where on the web they could not be reached at all.
v0.42.0 · 7 SEPT 2026
- You can row without setting a baseline. Where a workout used to show a pace target, it now says STEADY, MODERATE, HARD or ALL OUT, and Start, Connect and Log it after all work. If your baselines are already set, nothing changes for you here: to see it, tap Reset baseline setup on You.
- The baseline doors on Today have a way past them: Row without one for now. The app remembers that, so it survives a reinstall. A quiet line keeps the doors one tap away, and setting both baselines any time puts the numbers back.
- Workouts still tell you roughly how long they are without a baseline. A time-based workout is exact; a distance one is an estimate off an assumed pace and reads with a ~, like ~24'.
- If you have set one baseline and not the other, Today says which one you have set and offers to fill the other in at the usual 7 second gap, in one tap. Library and each workout say the same. Your targets stay words until both are set.
- The PM5's verification code now prints only on rows Concept2 will let you type it into: a distance or a time that hits one of their ranking figures exactly, counting rest. Everywhere else it was decoration.
- AVG HR now has a number in it. The monitor leaves that field empty, so Ergomatic works it out from the heart-rate trace it already records, over your working strokes. That means it can read a little below the per-interval HR column on the same screen.
- If your monitor is from before about 2018, Ergomatic can read it now. It used to connect, sit on READY and record nothing, because it was throwing away every reading over one byte those monitors do not send. Newer monitors are unaffected.
v0.41.0 · 7 SEPT 2026
- Rows rowed with the PM5 connected now show what the monitor reports: watts, calories, cal/hour, rate and drag for the session, and a MACHINE SUMMARY table under INTERVALS with HR, watts, calories, cal/hour and drag for each interval. It scrolls sideways. Rows saved before this build show what they have and a dash for the rest.
- Watts and cal/hour are worked out the way Concept2's logbook does it, from time, distance and calories, so they can read a little different from the PM5's own screen.
v0.40.0 · 6 SEPT 2026
- Scan NFC: hold your iPhone to the PM5's tag and Ergomatic connects to that PM5 and loads the workout, with no Bluetooth picker. It sits above Connect on every workout and on Just Row. iPhone only; the PM5 just needs to be awake.
- After a scan, the screen names the PM5 it is looking for, on workouts and on Just Row, and you can cancel. If it can't reach the PM5, the message tells you to check nothing else is connected to it. A tag that fails to read says so and asks for another scan.
- A blurred strip now sits behind the status bar, so a scrolled page never prints under the clock.
v0.39.2 · 6 SEPT 2026
- The tab bar now gets out of the way while you type, so the Library no longer shows through under it. It comes back as soon as the keyboard goes. To switch tabs while typing, close the keyboard first with the ✓ above it.
v0.39.1 · 6 SEPT 2026
- Your 2K and 6K baselines are readable on You. Tap BASELINES to edit them, re-test or reset your setup. Set baselines links elsewhere now open that screen too.
- The gap below the tab bar while you type is not fixed in this build. v0.39.2 closes it.
- Target nudges now put ▼ before ▲. Down makes the target split one second faster; up makes it one second slower.
- On the web, Connect stays disabled in browsers without Bluetooth support instead of opening an error screen. This applies to workouts and Just Row. Connect in the iPhone app stays available.
v0.39.0 · 5 SEPT 2026
- One number for how hard a workout is. EASY / MEDIUM / HARD is gone from every row, filter and picker. If you had narrowed Today by difficulty, that filter is gone and Today may suggest more workouts than before; narrow by effort instead.
- The AT and TR blocks of the Library are sorted by effort, so scrolling a type never steps back down. About forty workouts sit a few rows from where they were.
- PAIN is now EFFORT. Same 1 to 5, same five words, one name, on the Log, the filter sheets, the Builder card and every row.
- The pain scale article is now the effort scale. Your read of it carries over, and its old link still opens it.
v0.38.1 · 5 SEPT 2026
- Tapping SEARCH BY NAME in the Library no longer zooms the page in.
v0.38.0 · 5 SEPT 2026
- SHUFFLE now draws at random and will not repeat a workout until you have seen the whole pool. The first card each morning is a random pick from the workouts you have gone longest without, and it stays put if you reload.
- With no plan chosen, Today now picks a type for you each morning and lights that chip. Tap a different chip to change it, or tap the lit chip for ANY TYPE. Tomorrow picks again, and so does logging a session today.
- Today's filters are remembered for each type and no longer reset at midnight. Set them once under AT and they are there the next time AT is lit, however many days later.
- TIME is now a range you drag instead of four fixed bands, so you can ask for 25 to 35 minutes. A workout that lands exactly on your time cap now counts as within it, so you will see a few more options than before with no action from you.
- GLOBAL and CUSTOM are now ERGOMATIC LIBRARY and MY WORKOUTS, on the filters and on the workouts themselves.
- The Library has a search field above FILTER. Type a few letters of a name and the list narrows as you type. It works alongside the type chips and the filters, stays with you when you come back from a workout, and clears when you reopen the tab.
- Opening You without a connection no longer shows a Concept2 error panel. Nothing about Concept2 appears unless your account has it.
v0.37.0 · 4 SEPT 2026
- A finished workout you leave without saving now waits on Today under UNSAVED WORKOUT. Review & save opens its original summary so you can save or discard it; the warning before another workout now has View unsaved instead of making discard the only way forward.
v0.36.1 · 3 SEPT 2026
- Ending a phone-timed Just Row now lets you finish and save, instead of only abandoning the session.
v0.36.0 · 3 SEPT 2026
- Stop a connected piece partway through an interval and that interval's row now shows what you actually did, 250 m · 1:03, instead of a dash. The two numbers are the erg's own reading for that interval, the last one it sent before you stopped; what is ours is deciding which interval it belongs to. They are never added into your totals, your average split, or the count of intervals kept: those still only count intervals you finished. The reading is captured as a session ends, so it is there for sessions you row from this release on. Sessions already in your log never captured it and keep their dash, unlike the STOPPED EARLY marker further down, which is read off what was already saved. (Corrected 2026-09-03: v0.31.0 said an interval you were still in the middle of is not saved. That was true then; from this release it is saved, as its own two numbers on the row, and still never counted into a total.)
- 'Nothing kept.' has left the three screens that said it: the lost-monitor banner, the line the end-of-session screen shows when the erg drops a workout, and the log door's strip. With a part-rowed interval now showing its own metres, the phrase was about to be denying something on the screen underneath it. (Corrected 2026-09-03: v0.24.0 said the banner 'says how much survived: 2 intervals kept., or Nothing kept. when there is nothing'. The first half stands. The second is withdrawn: with nothing kept the banner now shows LOST THE MONITOR alone and promises nothing about what survived.)
- Your history says which sessions did not finish. A session you stopped early wears a STOPPED EARLY chip in the list, and opening it reads 'STOPPED EARLY · 2 of 5 intervals measured'; a session the link died in reads LINK LOST, and one the erg dropped reads PROGRAM DROPPED. This is read off what was already saved, so sessions already in your log get it the moment you update: nothing was rewritten, they simply say what they always were. And the promise v0.24.0 made is kept: a connected session the app never heard a pull in is now stored as exactly that and reads NO MONITOR READING in your history. Rows saved before this release still read LOGGED BY HAND, and always will. One more: an erg that never told us its name is now saved as the connected session it was and reads MONITOR, instead of being filed as logged by hand.
- The timer screen has one END, in the same place whichever way up you hold the phone, and the empty band that used to sit under it is gone. Three smaller things with it: the Just Row door's band reads 'Start a free row session.', a saved row with a time but no distance now prints TIME m:ss under its name in History, and with no plan active the save button just says Save.
- Connect on the Just Row door now actually puts your monitor into a Just Row session instead of leaving it on its own menu: it leaves the menu the moment you connect, and the line under READY reads 'The clock starts on your first stroke.' instead of saying nothing was programmed.
- Your erg now takes its program almost as soon as you tap Connect. It used to sit on its old screen for about two seconds first, on every connect this app has ever made, because the app was making ten other Bluetooth calls before it got to the one that matters. Measured at the erg on 3 September: a free row lands in a fifth of a second, and a programmed workout reaches the erg about a second sooner than it did.
- The Just Row door no longer says it is ready before your erg is. It used to show 'Ready when you pull' the instant you tapped Connect, while the monitor was still on its menu. Now it shows a short 'Starting your row' step until the erg has taken the program, the way a programmed workout already waited. If the monitor never answers, the door goes to ready anyway, so you can always start the row on the erg itself.
- If your phone can't keep the session record when you press Start, you now see 'Couldn't keep your session on this phone.' with a Retry button, instead of the countdown finishing and dropping you back where you started with no explanation.
v0.35.0 · 2 SEPT 2026
- A Just Row can now stand in for a plan session. On a plan day the Just Row log door offers Log against plan, SESSION n OF 84 moves on, and the Plan tab marks the row INSTEAD OF whatever was asked for. v0.32.0 said a Just Row never advances your plan; now it can, when you say so, and never otherwise.
- If you are still on a build before 0.34, update: from this release the server refuses a save that does not say which door it came in by, which those builds cannot say. Builds 0.34 and later are unaffected.
v0.34.0 · 2 SEPT 2026
- Just Row without the erg. The Just Row door has a second button, Start Timer: the phone keeps the time, and when you finish, the log door shows that time alone and saves it. No distance and no split, because the phone did not measure them and will not invent them. v0.32.0 said connect to the erg; that is now one of two ways in.
- Free rows carry a JR chip in the badge slot the other kinds use. It is hollow on purpose: the four colours mean intensities, and a Just Row has none. v0.32.0 said no type chip, on purpose; in practice the row was too easy to lose in History, so it has one now.
- The Just Row ready screen's KEEP YOUR PHONE SCREEN ON strip looks like the rest of the app again. It had shipped without its styling.
v0.33.0 · 1 SEPT 2026
- If a connected session goes wrong and someone asks you for the log, you can now get it without rowing again: You, then DIAGNOSTICS, then Monitor logs. The app keeps the last three connected sessions' logs; COPY puts one on the clipboard, ready to paste into a message.
- Before, those logs lived one session deep: finishing a new session was the only way in, and doing that overwrote the very log you came for.
v0.32.0 · 1 SEPT 2026
- Just row. A JUST ROW button now sits at the top of Today: connect to the erg, pull, and the machine's own free row lands in your log with its time, distance, and average split. End it from the app or press Menu on the erg; either way the numbers are the monitor's own, and a row the app loses mid-link shows up on Today ready to log.
- A Just Row never advances your plan. SESSION n OF 84 does not move when you save one: it is extra rowing, counted as itself.
- These rows carry no targets and no type chip, on purpose. Nothing was prescribed, so there is nothing to hold and no intensity to badge: the log shows the row plain. What you rowed, how long, how far.
v0.31.0 · 1 SEPT 2026
- If the erg throws away the workout mid-row, the app now keeps what you rowed instead of losing it. The session closes, every finished interval is saved, and you land on the log screen under THE ERG DROPPED THE WORKOUT. with a count of what survived. Before, the app kept showing a live screen for a workout the erg no longer had, and the row was gone.
- One limit, stated plainly: an interval you were still in the middle of is not saved. On a single-interval piece that reads Nothing kept. The number is still on the monitor; the log screen is ready for you to type it in. That number was never recoverable before either; the app just never told you.
- WORKOUT COMPLETE no longer appears at the top of the log screen for sessions that did not complete: the erg dropped it, the connection was lost, or the session was interrupted. The heading now only says complete when it was.
v0.30.0 · 31 AUG 2026
- If your phone cannot save a finished connected session, the app now says so instead of losing it: COULD NOT KEEP THE RECORD ON THIS PHONE., with two buttons. Retry tries the save again; Log it anyway takes the row to the log screen with the numbers you saw.
- A finished session whose record never reached your phone's storage now still shows up on Today as an unlogged row, and the connect screens warn before anything would replace it. Before, nothing pointed back to it.
- Fixed: a brief save failure at the finish could quietly cut a saved session's intervals short. The record you save now is the record that stays.
v0.29.0 · 31 AUG 2026
- 2K Test and 6K Test are the app's own workouts now. You can no longer name one of your workouts either of those, in the builder or the import screen: title is reserved. Pick another name.
- If you already made a workout with one of those names, it still works and still shows everywhere it did. Editing it asks you to rename it first.
v0.28.0 · 31 AUG 2026
- Your plan now says what you actually rowed. Every completed day on the Plan screen names its workout next to a badge for the type you rowed.
- Days where you went off plan say so. Row an easy piece on a rate-work day and the row reads INSTEAD OF TR under the workout's name. The three checkpoint days check the workout itself: do anything but the prescribed test and the row says INSTEAD OF 2K Test.
- Checkpoint days name their test like any other workout. The 2K Test and 6K Test used to appear as uppercase labels; they are real workouts in your library, and the plan now shows them by name everywhere.
v0.27.0 · 30 AUG 2026
- Your saved rows now show the erg's own numbers. Finish or end a connected session and the app waits a moment for the monitor to speak its own totals before opening the log screen; the saved row then carries them, marked MACHINE CONFIRMED with the monitor's verification code. Until now that never happened once, on any row.
- The wait is short, usually under a second. The screen says what it is doing: Wrapping up, then Getting the monitor's own numbers.
- A correction we owe you. v0.22.0 said your saved rows could show what the erg itself reported, and v0.23.0 said three summary numbers come straight from the erg. Neither was ever true before this release: a timing bug meant the monitor's totals never reached a single saved row. Rows saved before this release keep our computed numbers permanently; on our own data that is all 18 connected rows. From this release on, the claim is real.
- A second correction. v0.11.0 told you DISTANCE counts warm-up and rest meters and to check it against the monitor side by side. Since v0.22.0 the three numbers up top count your work only, so that instruction no longer describes the screen. The total line beneath them is where the rest meters live.
- Three small wording fixes: the ready screen's warning now says to keep the phone's screen on, not the monitor's; the baseline estimate line drops a stale instruction; and the training pyramid article is readable at phone size in the app's own words.
v0.26.0 · 28 AUG 2026
- The big split at the top of the LIVE tab no longer counts while you rest. It used to keep reporting a pace as the flywheel slowed, which was nobody's pace, in the largest number on the screen. It shows a dash now until you pull again.
- Lose the connection during a rest and the countdown on the grid stops too. It could freeze mid-rest and sit there like it was still counting, while the pane beside it correctly said the monitor was lost.
- If the erg throws away the workout, the app now notices and takes you back to it. This can happen without you doing anything, after your phone has been in a pocket for a while. Before, the app carried on showing a live screen for a workout the erg no longer had, and a pull after that got filed against nothing. You land back on the workout with your nudged targets still there, ready to send again.
- END now always stops the erg. If the app thought it had lost the monitor, it used to close your session and walk away while the machine kept counting in front of you.
v0.25.0 · 27 AUG 2026
- The grid now tells you when you are resting. During a rest the row you are on sinks to a shaded band and counts the rest down in gold: in portrait it replaces the pace column, in landscape it fills the REST column. Your time and metres keep climbing through a rest because the flywheel is still spinning, and until now nothing on that screen said so. Nothing was ever being recorded wrong; the screen just could not tell you which numbers were the rest.
- The pace column no longer shows a number while you rest. It used to keep reporting a split as the flywheel slowed, which was a pace nobody was rowing. It now shows a dash until you pull again.
v0.24.0 · 26 AUG 2026
- If you start a workout and the app has not heard your first pull yet, the screen now says so. It used to show 1 OF 4 · WORK over a row of zeros, which looks exactly like a piece already under way. It now says READY, and the numbers beside it are labelled as your targets rather than posing as readings. This is the screen a tester was looking at when they lost a workout: they locked the phone before their first stroke, rowed, and the app never started recording, because it only opens a record when it sees you pull.
- LOST THE MONITOR has stopped crying wolf. It was firing on things that are not losses at all: a swipe into Control Centre, a glance at a notification. On one row it appeared nine times in five minutes while the erg was talking to the app the whole time. It now waits until the app has genuinely not heard the erg, and it says how much survived: '2 intervals kept.', or 'Nothing kept.' when there is nothing.
- PULL TO RESUME no longer appears before you have pulled. Starting an interval while the flywheel was still coasting could show it within about two seconds, telling you to resume something you had not begun.
- When the app never heard a thing, the end-of-session screen now says NO MONITOR READING instead of LOGGED BY HAND, and still offers all three ways to save. One thing it cannot fix: in your history, those sessions still read LOGGED BY HAND, and rows already saved that way cannot be changed. The end screen tells the truth; the saved row does not yet. (Corrected 2026-09-02: the saved row tells it too, from the next release on. A session saved after that release with no reading is stored as exactly that and reads NO MONITOR READING in your history. Rows saved before it still read LOGGED BY HAND and always will: nothing in an old row says which of the two it was.)
- A correction to what v0.17.0 told you. That update said the lost-monitor banner 'cannot flicker at you' and listed a phone call as a way it appears. Both were wrong: it flickered, and a phone call was never the trigger we saw. The flickering is what this release fixes.
- And one small thing for anyone reporting a problem: the diagnostics copy on the log screen now works on a phone's very first connected session, and carries only that session's own trace instead of everything the app has ever recorded.
v0.23.0 · 25 AUG 2026
- Your saved sessions now read like the monitor's own memory screen: DISTANCE, TIME and AVG SPLIT are all WORK only, and your seat-to-seat total moved to its own line underneath, which also names the metres the flywheel coasted while you rested. A 2x250m with a minute of rest used to show 742 m and 4:04 beside a 2:04.0 split, three numbers that could not all be true at once. It now shows 500 m, 2:04 and 2:04.0, with '4:04 total, plus 242 m coasting in rest' beneath.
- This applies to rows you already saved, so a session with rest in it will read smaller than it did yesterday. Nothing was lost: the old headline is the total line now, one row down, with its rest spelled out. This is also the number Concept2's logbook keeps, so your rows and your logbook finally mean the same thing.
- For sessions recorded since the last update, those three numbers come straight from the erg, including its own average split. The PM5 rounds pace down where we round to nearest, so its split can sit a tenth away from one you work out by hand. We show the monitor's, not ours.
- Two corrections to things earlier updates told you. v0.22.0 said everything on the session screen except the MACHINE CONFIRMED box included rest: it does not any more, and that box should now agree with the numbers above it rather than differ from them. Older still, v0.11.0 said DISTANCE counted everything the flywheel counted so it should match the monitor exactly: check side by side today and it will not, because DISTANCE is work only now.
- Two smaller honesties. Your history list can still show the older, rest-inclusive distance for a narrow set of older sessions; open the session for the right number. And a session you ended early, or one whose link dropped, keeps the headline it was saved with and gains no rest line, because we cannot prove what its rest was.
v0.22.0 · 25 AUG 2026
- Your saved rows can now show what the erg itself reported: a MACHINE CONFIRMED · WORK ONLY box on the session detail with the monitor's own work time and distance, plus its CODE, the same verification code the PM5 shows in its memory screen, so you can check the phone against the monitor without re-rowing anything. Work only means rest metres are excluded; everything else on that screen includes rest, so the numbers are meant to differ. It appears only on connected rows saved from this update forward (older rows cannot gain it), and on a piece you ended early it shows what the machine recorded up to that point.
- Charts for interval workouts measured in metres stop losing your faster interval: a monitor quirk at the interval boundary could silently drop everything after the first rest from the little pace chart (the numbers were always right; the drawing was not). Fixed for rows saved from this update forward; an already-saved chart with the gap stays as it is. One deliberate change that comes with it: if the connection drops mid-piece, the chart's clock now agrees with the session totals (both come up short by the gap) instead of quietly running its own version of time.
- The metres counter on the connected screen counts every metre again instead of stepping by fives. It reads busier at full speed; it also never lags your actual distance by more than half a metre. That trade was chosen on the erg.
- Baselines look honest when they are empty: an unset baseline now shows as blank with a dim hint instead of a value that looks real, and one +/- control does the adjusting everywhere baselines appear.
v0.21.0 · 24 AUG 2026
- Learning the app moved house: the START HERE block is gone from Today, and the same four short reads now live pinned at the top of News. Nothing was deleted; Today just belongs to your training now. The You-tab setting that reset the reading list went with it.
- One tap answers and advances: on the baseline questionnaire, choosing an option now carries you to the next question by itself. No more answer-then-hunt-for-next.
- A monitor reset during an interval workout is now caught by the machine's own interval counter: if the erg genuinely resets mid-gap, the app ends the row honestly (marked LINK LOST) instead of quietly rowing your next metres into the old total. Two honest corrections to what v0.20.0 said: this narrows the come-up-short window rather than closing it (single-interval and distance workouts still carry it), and the new check is one more way a row can be ended if the monitor misbehaves. Everything else from the last two updates was under-the-hood groundwork you cannot see yet.
v0.20.0 · 23 AUG 2026
- Glancing at your phone mid-row can no longer cost you the session. The app used to sometimes end a healthy row as link-lost right after you came back to it, on one bad reading from the monitor; it now demands the full signature of a real monitor reset before it closes anything. The honest flip side: if the monitor genuinely resets during a long gap, the app may now keep rowing into the same record and the total can come up short until a deeper fix lands. We chose losing metres over losing rows.
- Try again on the connection-failed screen now works after the link dies mid-session, not just after a failed first connect. One tap runs the whole path again: fresh connection, workout re-sent, back to READY. Before this, that button could sit there looking tappable and do nothing.
- Your log now says which sessions the link killed: LINK LOST appears on the session detail, so a row the app lost is never confused with a row you chose to end. This is the surface promised in the v0.17.0 correction.
v0.19.1 · 23 AUG 2026
- Entering a baseline is typing now, not tapping: tap the field and type the digits, 158 becomes 1:58, with the number keypad. Works on the setup door and the You editor. Back moved to the top left like everywhere else, and tapping quickly no longer selects text by accident.
v0.19.0 · 23 AUG 2026
- Three ways in on a new account: answer two quick questions for a recommended baseline, type your splits if you know them, or row a test. Whichever door you take, the app ends up speaking in your numbers. The questionnaire's answers are never stored or sent anywhere.
- Reset baseline setup, on the You tab: clears both baselines so you can start over (or see the new setup doors on an existing account). No undo, and workouts with pace targets can't be started until you set a baseline again.
- Live rate readings now band to plausible values: a stray spike like 101 strokes per minute no longer reaches the chart. Existing logs keep any old spikes; the fix applies to new rowing only.
v0.18.1 · 23 AUG 2026
- The You tab's re-test buttons now open the workout screen first, so you choose Connect, Start Timer, or Log it after, and BACK returns to You. And the 6K Test now says what it is: MAX, all out, everywhere it appears. Its time estimate got honest too.
v0.18.0 · 22 AUG 2026
- The loop is closed: finish a 2K Test or 6K Test with the monitor connected or the phone timer running, and after saving, the app offers your measured split as the new baseline. One tap sets it; Not now leaves your numbers alone. Hand-typed logs still do not count: nothing was measured. Expect it to take real rowing, the offer only appears for a plausible split over the full distance.
- Re-test from the You tab: two buttons under your baselines, ROW THE 6K and RACE THE 2K, one tap from your numbers, no plan progress needed. If your other baseline is missing after a test, or your new result disagrees with it, the app offers an estimate and says exactly what it would replace.
- Every test you finish is recorded either way, accept or not. There is nowhere to see that history yet and no way to remove an entry, both are coming with the history list.
v0.17.0 · 22 AUG 2026
- If the Bluetooth link dies mid-row, the app now says so, within a few seconds: LOST THE MONITOR appears, the live numbers visibly freeze instead of pretending, and the banner stays up until the stream has been genuinely healthy for ten seconds, so it cannot flicker at you. This covers the ways a link dies silently: switching Bluetooth off and on, a phone call taking the app to the background, and drops the app used to swallow.
- A session the link killed is recorded as exactly that. Ending a session under the lost banner stores it as link-lost, not as you giving up. (Corrected 2026-08-23: the record knows the difference; the history screen does not show it yet. That surface is coming.) (Corrected 2026-08-25: only for a link lost mid-row. If the app never heard a pull there is no record to mark: the end-of-session screen says NO MONITOR READING, and the saved row still reads LOGGED BY HAND.)
- A failed connection attempt no longer poisons the next one. Try Again genuinely starts over, and the app asks your phone what it is already connected to before offering to connect again.
- There is a connection log now, one tap from the failure screen, with timestamps. If something goes wrong at the erg, copying that log is the single most useful thing you can send.
v0.16.0 · 22 AUG 2026
- Your plan's three test days now suggest the actual test: session 7 shows the 2K Test with the reason (sessions 35 and 63 too; the head-race plan pins the 6K Test), and Log against plan is the lead button when you finish one. Swapping the type chip overrides the checkpoint, and SHUFFLE still escapes to an ordinary session. Reaching a checkpoint takes real logged sessions, so it appears when you get there, not before.
- First 6k and First 2k are now 6K Test and 2K Test, with honest difficulty and pain ratings, and they live in the Library like any other workout (filter AN for the 2K, AT for the 6K) so you can re-test whenever you want. Older log entries keep the old names: that is your history, not a bug.
- After a test, the app does not record your new baseline yet: update it yourself on the You tab. A proper post-test baseline prompt is the next thing being built.
- The warm-up setting is gone: WARM-UP on the You tab, and the automatic warm-up every session used to start with, no longer exist. If you want one, add it to the workout as an ordinary first step, and it will show up, count, and get judged like any other step.
v0.15.0 · 20 AUG 2026
- Your session's trace now has a time axis along the bottom, so you can see where you were in the row rather than just the shape of it. The pace labels down the side were being cut off and now read properly.
- Rests are drawn as rests. A small band on the axis marks where you stopped, and a rest no longer squashes the pace scale: on a session with real rests, your working intervals used to be a flat line across the top of the chart because the rest values stretched the axis. Now the scale comes from your rowing and the difference between your best and worst interval is actually visible.
- One honest note about older traces: a session recorded before this update can be missing a whole interval if the Bluetooth link stuttered, and it drew rests as though you were rowing. There is no way to tell a good old trace from a bad one, and they cannot be repaired. Traces recorded from this build on are trustworthy.
- TOTAL LEFT is now EST LEFT, and it keeps counting while you rest. It used to freeze whenever you stopped moving during a rest, because the erg's own clock stops with the flywheel, so a session with long rests finished reading about a minute high. It is still an estimate: on a distance piece rowed well off your target pace it can still pause for a few seconds going into the rest. That is measured and known, not the old bug.
- The meters counter on the connected screen no longer nudges the progress bar when a session passes 10,000m.
v0.14.0 · 20 AUG 2026
- Your interval rows now answer the question you actually asked: did I hit MY target. Each measured row shows its target beside what you rowed and is judged against that target, not against the session's own average. Faster is blue, slower is red, and anything inside half a second of the target is on target: plain ink, no verdict.
- That also re-reads your history. Open a session you have looked at before and its rows may have changed color, because they are being judged by the new rule. A workout that beat every target used to paint its slowest rows red simply for being slower than the others. Those rows are blue now.
- Stroke rate is on the rows at last, written as 24 / 22: what you actually pulled, then the rate the workout asked for.
- Every screen that offers to save a session now also offers to discard it. The by-hand door was the last one that could trap you in a row you did not want.
- Connected sessions draw their own trace under the interval list: your pace across the whole row, with stroke rate and heart rate a tap away. Heart rate appears only if a belt was on the wire. Sessions rowed before this update kept no trace and show no chart, so the first row you take after updating is the first one with a picture.
v0.13.0 · 18 AUG 2026
- The connected screen counts your meters again: the whole session, work and rest, at the end of the progress bar. It moves in calm 5-meter steps; the summary at the end keeps the exact figure, and both were checked against the erg's own monitor in the same photo frame.
- Your interval's average split now sits beside its target, under the big split. While you row it stays plain ink: an average spends most of an interval climbing from the standing start, so a verdict mid-interval would just say SLOWER at you. The moment the rest begins, it turns blue or red against the interval you just finished.
- That also means a piece with no rests never shows the color, and neither does a session's final interval: the summary is where those verdicts live, every interval judged in its list.
- About the swipe, from this week's erg session: a drag inside the scrolling interval list needs to be genuinely flat, or iOS takes it for a scroll. Drag level, or use the LIVE/GRID buttons, which always work.
- You can delete a wrong session. Open any session and scroll to the bottom: a duplicate, a test row, or a botched save stops existing rather than being rewritten. Deleting your most recent plan session also un-ticks its checkmark, so it stops counting as training you did; deleting older history leaves your plan's numbering alone.
- One thing that does not exist yet: fixing a session's numbers. If a row is wrong, the only remedy is to delete it and log it again, which stamps today's date.
v0.12.0 · 18 AUG 2026
- Your history is open. Today's LAST THREE heading now leads to every session you have ever logged, newest first, and tapping any session shows what you saw when you finished it: the same top numbers, the same interval list, the same colors.
- The reflection you skipped can finally be answered. Open any past session and tap Edit: thumbs, the hold question, pain, and notes are all editable, and clearing an answer works the same way it does when logging.
- Plan checkmarks open their sessions. A completed plan session links to the exact log it recorded, and resetting your plan never rewrites what a checkmark already says.
- One honest note about your existing sessions: anything logged before this update keeps its rows and reflection but shows no top-line numbers, and its plan checkmark stays plain. The first session you row after updating is the first with the full record.
- You can swipe between LIVE and GRID on the connected screen now, including drags that start on the interval rows. If you already found the swipe before reading this, tell us: whether it was discoverable unaided is exactly what we want to know.
v0.11.0 · 17 AUG 2026
- Finishing a session lands on a summary now: your average split, total meters, and time up top, every interval listed under them. It replaces the old log screen on every door, connected, timer, and by hand.
- Connected times read lower, and truer. TIME counts the work you rowed plus the rests you completed, never the clock on the wall. Leave mid-session and come back later, and it still says what you actually rowed.
- Total meters is back, and it is the erg's own number. DISTANCE counts everything the flywheel counted, warm-up and rest meters included, so it should match the monitor exactly. Check them side by side after any session.
- Each measured interval shows how far it sat from your session's own average: blue bar faster, red slower. A session with a single measured interval shows no bar, because there is nothing real to compare it against.
- The hold question says which direction it means now: HELD, UNDER · FASTER, OVER · SLOWER. A thumbs up or down joins it, asking whether you want more sessions like this one.
- The whole reflection is optional. Save the row and answer nothing, or clear any answer with a second tap. One honest caveat: there is no way to come back and fill it in later yet.
- The connected footer's NEXT line tells you what you are about to row: the distance or time, the target split, and the stroke rate, instead of just naming the phase.
v0.10.0 · 17 AUG 2026
- Connected session totals are correct now, and lower. Two counting bugs each inflated the total meters on interval workouts with rests; both are fixed, so the number you see should finally match the erg's own. Check it on the log screen after a session, or in the diagnostics sheet's SESSION line mid-row.
- The connected screen is rebuilt around two big judged numbers. Everything the PM5 already shows in the same glance left the phone: the interval countdown, running meters, and raw heart rate now live on the GRID view, one tap away on the new LIVE and GRID switch at the top (bottom bar in portrait).
- Before your first stroke the screen says READY, shows your target as a ghost, and a session bar draws every interval to scale so you can see the whole piece at a glance.
- The bottom line always tells you what is next: NEXT, then the piece or the rest, and NEXT FINISH when it is the last one.
- Stopping mid-piece reads honestly. The screen says PULL TO RESUME, nothing more: the erg has no pause and its clock keeps running, and the app stopped pretending otherwise.
- A reload or crash mid-session no longer strands your row. Today shows the interrupted session with Log it and Discard, and Log it records the time you actually rowed, never the time the app was closed.
- Connect and Start stopped warning that a session is in progress when what you have is an unlogged one. The buttons now say what will actually happen.
- In the builder, the pace nudge arrows follow the number: up makes the number bigger, down smaller, whichever field you are in.
v0.9.0 · 13 AUG 2026
- Connected mode is two screens instead of three. Live shows your split and your stroke rate as two big numbers, each sitting directly over the target it is judged against.
- Faster than your target reads blue, slower reads red, on the split and the rate alike.
- Your warm-up is flagged as one. It says WARM-UP while you row it, and the interval count starts at your first working piece, so a two piece workout no longer tells you it is one of three before you have begun.
- The progress bar is notched where your intervals actually change, so you can see where you are in the session without reading a number.
- The grid gives every interval a single line: eight of them visible in landscape, fifteen in portrait.
- End session moved to the top corner. It used to be a full width bar directly under the pane switcher, easy to catch with a thumb reaching to change views mid row.
- Connected mode in landscape uses the whole screen.
- The countdown and the finish screen stopped scrolling on phones with a notch. That one needs no monitor.
- The Library filters by difficulty now, and the workout type chips sit outside the filter sheet where one tap reaches them.
v0.8.0 · 11 AUG 2026
- The screen stays awake while you row a connected piece. It used to sleep mid-row once your hands were on the handle.
- Starting a workout is one door now, and your pace adjustment sticks. The old confirm screen is gone: adjust pace on the workout page and start, and the same adjustment carries through whether you connect a PM5 or use the phone timer.
- Connect is blue and sits above Start Timer, the workout page's one clear way to begin a monitored row.
- A connected session survives a dropped reading. If the monitor's final interval data never arrives, the app recovers that interval's time and meters from the workout summary whenever the numbers add up, and leaves it blank rather than guessing when they don't.
- Workouts show their real shape: each piece as its own row, the hardest one tinted, and repeated pieces collapsed to one line like 5x the block below.
- New in News: an article decoding the Library's shorthand, line by line.
v0.7.0 · 11 AUG 2026
- Connect a PM5 from a workout's page and row with live splits, on your phone or in a desktop browser.
- Today now starts you off: a START HERE guide walks your first week, and a baseline-setting workout appears until your 2k and 6k are in.
- Workouts no longer carry their own warm-ups. Set yours once on You and every session includes it automatically.
- The library rebalances around the 30 to 45 minute middle: most workouts got a little longer, and eleven were replaced outright.
- New in News: articles on setting baselines and picking a workout, plus a Start here shelf for new rowers.
- Reading flows properly now: BACK walks you through the articles you came from, and the close button returns you to where you started.
- The News feed remembers your scroll position.
- Bulk import is all-or-nothing: a bad line means nothing lands, so fixing and re-pasting never duplicates workouts.
v0.5.1 · 4 AUG 2026
- Today's filters now open from one FILTER control, the same sheet the Library uses.
v0.5.0 · 4 AUG 2026
- The library grows from 35 workouts to 300, across every type and duration.
- One button language across the app, and every pace now shows as a single exact target instead of a range.
- The Library's filters move into a sheet, with pain filterable level by level.
v0.4.0 · 2 AUG 2026
- The whole loop closes: Today suggests, Confirm adjusts, the timer runs the piece, and the log writes it down.
- Rowing a plan day as a different type no longer abandons the plan, and a session can be logged outside the plan.
