Every Library row has one line that states the whole workout: pieces, pace and rest. Today's card and the monitor use the same notation.
Splits
Pace is a split: the time 500 m takes. 2:05.0 means two minutes five seconds per 500 m. Lower is faster. Every pace target in the app is a split.
Pace offsets
Paces are offsets from your baselines, your own average splits for 6,000 m and 2,000 m.
- 6K+12: your 6k baseline plus 12 seconds per 500 m.
- 2K−1: your 2k baseline minus 1 second per 500 m.
- 6K or 2K alone: exactly baseline pace.
- Plus is slower and easier; minus is faster and, for most rowers, harder.
- 6K anchors steady endurance work; 2K anchors short, sharp work.
- A range is written slowest first, 2K+3 → −1: the baseline is named once and covers every piece in the range.
- MAX or ALL OUT: no number, on purpose.
Pieces
- 2 × 4:00: two pieces of four minutes each.
- Pieces that differ chain with hyphens.
- A bare number is minutes. Metres always carry m.
Rest
- 1′ REST: every gap is one whole minute.
- 1:15 REST: rest that is not whole minutes uses the clock format instead.
- No REST: the gaps differ or there are none. Open the workout.
Stroke rate
SPM is strokes per minute: cadence, not effort. It shows on Today's piece rows, not in Library lines.
Examples
Four rows from the Library:
Two 4-minute pieces at your 6k pace plus twelve seconds, one minute of rest between.
Five pieces of two, three, four, three and two minutes at the same pace, one minute of rest in every gap: a pyramid.
Ten 45-second pieces at one second per 500 m faster than your 2k pace, resting a minute and fifteen each time.
1,100 m, then three minutes, then 550 m, then one minute, sliding from three seconds slower than your 2k to one second faster.
