Every workout runs in one of two modes:
- Manual: the phone alone. Follow the timer and row.
- Connected: the app programs the whole workout into a Concept2 PM5 before your first stroke, and the monitor runs it.
You need a PM5 with Bluetooth on. Your first baseline row works in either mode.
Connecting
Connect from the workout's screen before you start. The app finds the monitor over Bluetooth and sends every interval: work, rests, distances, times. The monitor then runs the piece the way it runs a race: intervals advance on their own, rest counts down, and the monitor's numbers are the numbers.
While you row, the timer shows your pace beside the target and your stroke rate beside the prescribed rate.
If the connection drops
The screen says so and keeps what it has: your readouts freeze, and you can end and log the session as usual. Reconnecting starts a fresh piece; it does not resume the old one. Manual mode is always there as a choice before you start.
Which ergs work
Supported: confirmed. One machine: the RowErg this app was built and tested on. Everything below is untested until someone rows on one and tells us.
Supported: best effort. Dynamic RowErgs, RowErgs on slides, MultiErgs on a rowing interval, and any monitor whose firmware is too old to report its machine. The piece is correct, but Ergomatic tells Concept2 it was a plain RowErg, so the logbook entry names the wrong machine, and with auto verification on, that row's code is not accepted. Both are on the list to fix.
Unsupported. SkiErg, BikeErg and Dyno. When the monitor reports one of these, Ergomatic refuses it: nothing is programmed, recorded or sent. A monitor on older firmware does not report its machine and is treated as a RowErg.
